Smart Engines has updated its Sherlock document verification scanner with a real-time interactive guidance system. The platform now provides users with specific instructions to resolve identification issues, such as adjusting the document position or scanning a different page, instead of simply issuing an error message.

The system performs over 600 checks to verify document authenticity, including analyzing printed and handwritten data, checking documents in optical, ultraviolet, and infrared spectra, and reading NFC chips. It can also perform facial matching without requiring biometric data storage.

The solution operates entirely locally without needing an internet connection or GPU, ensuring data security. It supports documents from Russia, CIS countries, BRICS, and other nations, allowing for automated service for diverse user groups without manual intervention.

The Sherlock scanner is a fully domestic development included in the Unified Register of Russian Software. By providing clear feedback to users, the technology aims to reduce failure rates at self-service terminals like ATMs, kiosks, and hotel check-in desks.
