Smart Engines, in partnership with Intek Group, has developed a line of hardware-software complexes for automated document verification and data entry. The devices support Russian computing platforms such as KOMDIV, Elbrus, and Baikal, as well as domestic operating systems.

The technology is used in banking for KYC processes. Genbank reported that the system processes passport data in fractions of a second. Severgazbank integrated the solution in 2022 to detect document fraud, covering passports from 235 jurisdictions within the internal IT perimeter.

The Sherlock neural network ensemble performs over 600 checks, analyzing documents in optical, ultraviolet, and infrared spectra. It also verifies RFID chips and checks the fourth page of Russian passports to detect tampering like photo replacement.

Smart Engines holds a US patent for an anti-fraud algorithm that detects digital document editing by analyzing the image's digital signature. Additionally, the company patented a method for identifying OVD (optically variable devices) using AI-driven scanner illumination.

The technology is deployed in transport infrastructure, including automated pass-issuance kiosks by Conversta. In airports like Sheremetyevo, Vnukovo, and Koltsovo, the Sapsan modules have increased border control throughput by six times, reducing processing time to 40 seconds.

The Federal Tax Service of Russia uses these multispectral scanners to verify identities when issuing electronic signatures to business executives. Integration is supported via REST API, enabling low-code and no-code scenarios for 1C, JavaScript, and Python environments.
