Slate has opened its first Experience Center in Chicago, located in the Fulton Market District. The showroom, which began operations on October 15, allows potential buyers to view a prototype of the Slate Truck, explore customization options, and place pre-orders with a deposit of $300.
The Slate Truck is positioned as an affordable electric pickup with a retail price of $24,950. The vehicle features a minimalist interior, manual window winders, and a projected range of 205 miles. The company offers various customization options for interior panels and body styles, including SUV configurations.
Production is currently centered in Warsaw, Indiana, where the company is conducting prototype runs. Slate plans to begin shipping initial units to investors and employees by the end of the year, with deliveries to early-order customers scheduled for early 2027.
For vehicle maintenance, Slate has partnered with RepairNow, providing access to a network of 4,000 service shops. The company has designed the truck with replaceable exterior plastic panels to simplify repairs for minor body damage, though final pricing for replacement parts has not yet been determined.
