Slack is introducing a new feature called Slackforce Surfaces, designed to build interactive reports, dashboards, presentations, and microsites directly within chat interfaces. Users can describe their requirements to Slackbot, which utilizes AI to aggregate data from connected applications such as Google Drive and Salesforce.
Once generated, these Surfaces can be shared with team members, pinned to specific channels, and used for collaborative tasks like commenting or viewing live data. Slack suggests potential use cases, including monitoring customer support queues or creating financial forecasts based on integrated data sources.
The tool ensures data privacy by only accessing information for which the AI has explicit user permissions. This update follows recent enhancements to Slackbot, which now supports message summarization, scheduling, and sorting capabilities, as well as the introduction of collaborative vibe coding channels.
Slackforce Surfaces will be accessible to all workspace customers, including those on free plans, provided Slackbot is enabled. The feature is scheduled to support live data integration starting in October.
