SK Hynix has officially launched its corporate venture capital brand, SK Hynix Ventures, headquartered in Silicon Valley. The announcement was made during the inaugural SK Hynix Ventures Day, which brought together global venture capital firms and technology startups. The company’s CEO, Kwak Noh-Jung, and other executives attended the event to engage with investors focused on AI computing and data center technologies.

The company has been active in venture capital since 2015, investing in semiconductor and emerging technology sectors across the US, China, Israel, and Japan. According to company data, the cumulative return on these investments has exceeded twice the total amount invested. These initiatives have also facilitated joint equipment development, proof-of-concept testing, and technical collaborations with portfolio companies.

SK Hynix Ventures will prioritize investments in AI computing platforms, data center infrastructure, system software, and optical interconnect technology. The firm aims to transition from a passive observer to an active participant in the AI ecosystem. By leveraging its Silicon Valley presence, the company intends to strengthen ties with startups and partners to identify new technological breakthroughs and commercial opportunities.

This strategic move follows the company's success with High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) products, which have positioned it as a key player in the AI hardware market. By establishing an independent venture brand, SK Hynix seeks to extend its influence beyond memory chip manufacturing into the broader AI industry. The initiative is part of a wider effort to secure a competitive edge in the rapidly growing AI infrastructure sector.
