The rail welding facility in Saint Petersburg, part of Sinara Group, has completed the production of rail strings for one of the two tracks of the Moscow-Saint Petersburg high-speed railway. The total length of the manufactured structures is nearly 700 km.

The process involves welding 100-meter sections into 800-meter strings, with each welding and processing cycle taking no more than 50 minutes. The finished products undergo ultrasonic testing and must withstand a load of 200 tons-force without structural failure.

The project utilizes domestically developed DT350VS400 grade rails, designed for train speeds up to 400 km/h. These rails are engineered to operate under dynamic loads in temperatures ranging from -60 to +60 degrees Celsius.

Construction of the main tracks requires a total of 161,000 tons of rails. EVRAZ ZSMK has already supplied 94,000 tons to Russian Railways, accounting for more than half of the total required volume.

The first rail strings have been installed on the Sablino-Tosno test section in the Leningrad Region. This site marks the first use of ballastless track technology for high-speed rail construction in Russia.
