SimpliSafe has released the Video Doorbell Series 2, priced at $199.99. The device features 2K resolution, 150-degree field of view, 10x zoom, two-way audio, and a built-in siren. It requires a base station and keypad to operate, supporting both self-monitored and professional plans.

The doorbell integrates with the Active Guard Outdoor Protection service, which costs from $49.99 per month. This feature combines on-device AI, cloud computer vision, and facial recognition to identify potential threats. When triggered, live monitoring agents can access the camera feed to communicate with or deter intruders.

The system includes privacy features such as encrypted footage and color-coded LED indicators: blue lights signal homeowner access, while amber lights indicate a live agent is viewing the feed. Users can also create a database of familiar faces to prevent false alarms during routine visits.

Active Guard was initially introduced for indoor cameras in 2023 and expanded to outdoor models in 2024. The service is optional and only activates when the security system is armed. SimpliSafe states that it does not share footage with law enforcement unless legally required.
