Sibur-Khimprom has replaced its 22-year-old Honeywell automated process control system (APCS) at its flare facility in Perm. The new solution was provided by the Russian company Tecon-Engineering.

The replacement was executed without halting production, as the flare facility operates continuously. The project involved parallel dismantling of legacy equipment and installation of the new system to maintain safety.

The project was managed by the Project Office for Target Initiatives, which acted as an integrator. The implementation included comprehensive commissioning, testing of emergency protection, and sensor calibration.

This initiative is part of a broader modernization program at Sibur-Khimprom. Over the past three years, the company has upgraded other units, increasing system data capacity by 20% compared to previous Japanese hardware.

Sibur and Tecon-Engineering have a strategic agreement to automate facilities including Voronezhsintezkauchuk, SiburTyumenGaz, and Nizhnekamskneftekhim. Training for personnel is conducted via SIBURINTECH.
