Severstal has developed SeverVersum, an industrial software solution designed to replace VersionDog for version control of programmable logic controller (PLC) projects. The system was created to ensure digital sovereignty and continuity of production processes following the discontinuation of foreign software support in 2022.
The platform consists of three main modules: SeverVersum ARM for client-side GUI, SeverVersum Data Center, and a Central Server. It integrates with iTop for asset management and Active Directory for user authentication. Data transmission between components is encrypted, and logs are sent to SIEM systems via syslog.
The first release, launched in the first half of 2026, introduced features for tracking project history, comparing versions, and preventing unauthorized configuration overwrites. The second release added automated scheduled backups and an integrated AI assistant that analyzes code changes and suggests potential improvements.
SeverVersum supports various automation systems, including Siemens SIMATIC S7, TIA Portal (V15–V19), Regul Astra.IDE (v1.7.2.1), and TREI Unimod PRO 2 (v2.3.40). It is compatible with Windows 10, Astra Linux SE 1.7–1.8, and RED OS 8, depending on the specific module.
Currently, the software is being deployed across Severstal's production facilities. The company plans to make the product available to the broader market in 2027 and intends to implement graphical visualization of project changes in future updates.
