A joint study by Okdesk and YooMoney reveals that service engineers in Russia now earn salaries comparable to some IT sector roles. The research involved 1,213 specialists across 219 cities. The median monthly income for these professionals is 120,000 ₽, with one in four earning at least 170,000 ₽ and one in ten receiving over 250,000 ₽.

Geographic location remains a key factor in compensation. In Moscow, the median salary is 162,500 ₽, while in St. Petersburg it reaches 150,000 ₽. Outside these major hubs, the median income is 105,000 ₽, though the top 10% of specialists in these regions earn at least 205,000 ₽. Across seven out of eight federal districts, top-tier earners receive at least 182,000 ₽.

The data indicates that high earnings are not exclusive to management roles, as experienced linear specialists can out-earn some department heads. Employers are advised to look beyond median figures and consider the top quartile of the market, which starts at 170,000 ₽ nationwide, or 150,000 ₽ in regions excluding Moscow and St. Petersburg.

Compensation also varies by employer type. In the private sector, the average salary is 156,479 ₽ with a median of 120,000 ₽. In the public sector, these figures are lower, at 118,078 ₽ and 100,000 ₽ respectively. These findings serve as a benchmark for both professionals assessing their income and managers planning recruitment.
