Huawei and Seres have restructured their automotive partnership, with Seres assuming operational leadership for the Aito brand. This transition covers product definition, design, marketing, sales, and service, moving these responsibilities from Huawei to Seres.

Aito will now operate under a dedicated sales model, establishing an independent network. Some existing HIMA stores will be transferred to Seres to sell Aito vehicles exclusively, while Aito remains a member of the Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance.

The change allows Huawei to focus its HIMA resources on its other four brands: Luxeed, Stelato, Maextro, and Shangjie. These brands will continue to operate under the existing model where Huawei leads the entire development and sales process.

Seres has been increasing its control over Aito assets, including a ¥2,5 billion acquisition of trademarks and patents in 2024 and a 10 percent stake in Huawei's Yinwang for ¥11,5 billion, with payment completed in September 2025.

The shift follows financial challenges for Seres, which reported a net loss of ¥1,72 billion for the first half of 2026, compared to a profit of ¥2,94 billion a year prior. Revenue for the same period declined 7,87 percent to ¥57,49 billion.

HIMA's overall performance has seen recent pressure, with August deliveries reaching 42 101 vehicles, a 5,52 percent year-on-year decline. This marks the third consecutive month of year-on-year delivery decreases for the alliance.
