A recent survey conducted by FedEx during the SEMICON Taiwan 2026 conference reveals that 35% of semiconductor industry representatives plan to expand production into new Asia-Pacific markets within the next three years. Additionally, 25% of the 478 surveyed professionals intend to increase or diversify their procurement strategies across the region.

Industry experts identify Taiwan, Southeast Asia, Greater China, and Japan as key growth regions for semiconductor demand, driven by advancements in artificial intelligence, high-performance computing, and electric vehicles. The report highlights a clear regional specialization: Taiwan leads in advanced chip manufacturing, South Korea in memory, and Japan in equipment and materials.

Despite growth prospects, 30% of respondents cite geopolitical tensions as a major obstacle, alongside rising operational costs and trade complexities. To mitigate these risks, companies are focusing on supply chain diversification. Furthermore, 44% of participants prioritize faster international shipping as the most critical logistical requirement for the coming three years.

The findings align with recent data from Moody’s Analytics, which suggests that the demand for AI infrastructure has bolstered semiconductor production and exports in the Asia-Pacific region. This technological surge has helped offset economic slowdowns in other sectors, prompting logistics providers like FedEx to enhance their support for the semiconductor supply chain.
