The developer of a self-hosted monitoring tool for errors, traces, metrics, logs, and availability has released version 1.0 of the project. The product is written in Go, utilizes PostgreSQL and ClickHouse, and is distributed under the Apache 2.0 license.

Prior to the release, the author implemented a significant cleanup of environment variables. In version 0.34.0, released on September 3, 31 variables were renamed: 17 server-side, 3 agent-side, and 11 in docker-compose and build configurations. This was done to resolve naming inconsistencies and avoid confusion between different subsystems.

To ensure stability, the developer adopted a strict policy regarding breaking changes. Starting with version 1.0, the author will not rename variables or change request body formats until version 2.0. Public status pages and self-metric names (except those marked as temporary) are now protected from breaking changes to maintain external integrations.

The release process included manual testing on production data copies. This process revealed five blockers, including a critical issue where rolling back to an older binary with a newer database schema caused a crash loop. The developer emphasizes that rollback plans must be tested manually before the release.

Three outdated reception addresses were kept in version 1.0 despite the breaking change window. They were declared deprecated on August 31 and will be only removed in version 2.0, following a internal deprecation policy that requires at least one major release between announcement and removal.
