Brett Redfearn, president of Securitize, stated that the industry lacks a solution for voting rights when tokenized stocks are held in non-KYC wallets. This issue arises when equity tokens move into anonymous wallets, severing the link between the beneficial owner and the corporate issuer.
Securitize requires KYC verification for all participants and restricts transfers to whitelisted wallets to prevent anonymous asset movement. The company currently manages approximately $4 billion in tokenized real-world assets.
On July 2, 2026, Securitize went public on the NYSE under the ticker SECZ. During the listing, the firm tokenized approximately $295 million of its own stock on the Solana and Avalanche blockchains.
Redfearn, who served as director of the SEC’s Division of Trading and Markets from 2017 to 2020, highlighted the distinction between issuer-sponsored tokenization and unsanctioned tokenization. The latter involves third parties wrapping securities without issuer involvement.
