The project is currently unfinished. Developer Marcelo Gibut demonstrated a system where two GeForce RTX 5060 Ti cards with 16 GB of memory each are used. One GPU handles traditional graphics processing, while the second is dedicated exclusively to DLSS 5 operations.
Technically, this differs from the old SLI technology because the second card processes output data generated by the first. This is possible because the neural rendering stage processes an already completed frame.
Using a second GPU for DLSS 5 allows the primary card to maintain performance levels similar to those without neural rendering. This addresses the issue where enabling DLSS 5 can reduce performance by 2 to 5 times.
Nvidia itself previously conducted the first demonstration of DLSS 5 using a PC equipped with two video cards.
