San Marino has officially joined the Artemis Accords, becoming the 76th nation to sign the agreement. The signing ceremony took place on Friday, September 25, 2026, in the town of Rimini, marking a new step in international space cooperation.

The document was signed by Rossano Fabbri, the Minister of Industry and Technological Research of San Marino. The event was attended by Gregory Mann, representing NASA in Europe, and Joseph Tordella, the U.S. Consul General in Florence.

The Artemis Accords were established in 2020 by NASA and the U.S. State Department alongside seven founding nations. The framework aims to set practical principles for the safe and transparent exploration of the Moon, Mars, and other celestial bodies.

NASA Deputy Administrator Matt Anderson noted that the agency is working toward building a Moon base and maintaining a permanent lunar presence. Signatories are invited to contribute to these missions through scientific payloads, technology demonstrations, and CubeSats.
