Samsung released a promotional video for the Galaxy Z Fold8 on October 27, directly comparing its device to the Apple iPhone Duo. The company highlighted its experience in the foldable market, noting that it has been developing such technology since 2019.

The advertisement provides specific technical comparisons between the two models. The Galaxy Z Fold8 features a folded thickness of 9.7mm, which is 1.6mm thinner than the iPhone Duo. Additionally, the Samsung device weighs 201g, making it 53g lighter than the Apple counterpart.

The video also references reports regarding hinge issues in the iPhone Duo, which surfaced during the first week of sales. According to an iFixit teardown, these screen failures may stem from a central support rod that fails to retract properly when the device is closed, exerting pressure on the display.

Samsung emphasizes its multi-year lead in the foldable sector. Co-CEO Roh Tae-moon stated that the company has spent seven years refining its foldable technology and user experience, aiming to establish new industry standards to maintain its competitive advantage.

Samsung currently maintains a diverse portfolio of foldable devices. Its lineup includes the tri-fold Galaxy Z TriFold, the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, the standard Galaxy Z Fold8, and the compact Galaxy Z Flip8.
