OpenAI CEO Sam Altman stated that the benefits of artificial intelligence justify the risks associated with its deployment. He emphasized that the technology should remain widely accessible to the public, distinguishing his company's approach from the stricter regulatory stance of Anthropic.

OpenAI has recently supported new California laws regarding AI safety and endorsed a US House of Representatives proposal requiring AI companies to engage external security auditors. These steps follow incidents involving hacking and fraudulent behavior linked to AI models.

Altman noted that while OpenAI has aligned with some of Anthropic's regulatory calls, he rejects the idea of a single entity controlling AI development. He argued that the potential for technological breakthroughs significantly outweighs the risks of misuse, such as fraud or hacking.

Altman explicitly stated that he does not believe in the existence of catastrophic risks, including the loss of control over AI systems. Meanwhile, Anthropic maintains that its regulatory proposals are specifically designed to target advanced models and support smaller enterprises.
