UK-based edtech startup Sainaptic has secured £1 million in a funding round co-led by Cornerstone VC and Ufi Ventures. Elm Venture Partners and Brighteye Ventures also participated in the investment. The company, founded by Kavitha Ravindran and Rajeshwari Iyer, develops AI tools for evaluating vocational and professional qualifications.

The startup claims its AI models reduce marking time from 45 minutes to 8 seconds for certain qualifications. This technology reportedly achieves less than 1 per cent deviation from human expert assessments. The company estimates these improvements can generate annual savings of up to £150 000 for assessment providers.

Sainaptic has entered a partnership with Skilltech Solutions to integrate its AI models into the latter's assessment delivery platform. This joint solution will be available to apprenticeship assessment organisations in the first quarter of 2027. The system is designed to assist with portfolio marking while keeping human assessors in control.

The company intends to allocate the new capital toward expanding its product portfolio, including the development of tools for quality assurance, analytics, and personalised assessments. Additionally, the funding will support the recruitment of new staff across the engineering, product, and sales departments.
