Apple has released details regarding the Safari 27 browser update, which introduces support for the Model Context Protocol (MCP). This integration allows AI tools such as Claude Code and Codex to interact directly with browser windows, enabling them to read DOM structures, network requests, and console outputs to streamline website debugging.
For general users, the update introduces a scroll anchoring feature designed to prevent content from shifting unexpectedly. By utilizing the CSS property overflow-anchor, the browser maintains the user's current reading position even when delayed elements like advertisements, images, or comments load above the visible area.
The update includes a significant number of technical improvements. Apple confirmed that the final release of Safari 27.0 addresses a total of 844 bugs. This figure represents a 60.76 percent increase compared to the 525 issues that were initially resolved during the WWDC 2026 event.
