As of November 3, 2026, there are 19,104 active IT companies in Russia, down from the peak of 26,662 recorded on September 25, 2022. Despite the 28% decrease, 6,760 new companies have received accreditation since late 2022.

The reduction in the registry is attributed to several factors, including the failure to provide tax data to the Ministry of Digital Development, the liquidation of legal entities, and non-compliance with requirements regarding IT revenue, headcount, and salary levels.

Data analysis reveals significant regional declines, with the Krasnodar Territory, Moscow Region, and Chelyabinsk Region seeing the largest drops in accredited firms. Moscow currently accounts for 40% of all active companies.

The current landscape of accredited firms is dominated by large-scale entities in banking, retail, and marketplaces. The total headcount across these companies is 745,623, with 50 firms employing more than 1,000 people each.
