The hydrogen train, model 62-4584, was presented at the Demikhovsky Engineering Plant. The project is a collaboration between Transmashholding, Russian Railways, Rosatom, and the Sakhalin Region government. The train is designed for operation on Sakhalin.

The train features a hydrogen fuel cell power plant that emits only water vapor. Passenger amenities include air conditioning with disinfection, information displays, and USB Type-A and Type-C charging ports at every seat. The design also accommodates passengers with disabilities.

Safety systems include hydrogen and fire detection sensors in the booster section. The train is equipped with an emergency shutdown system for the power plant, hydrogen supply cutoff, and ventilation systems developed by Russian research organizations.

The train consists of two head cars and a booster car, providing a range of over 700 km. Adding a passenger car reduces the range to over 480 km, with additional distance covered by energy storage units. Assembly will finish this year, with trials starting in 2027 in Moscow and then on Sakhalin.
