Rostelecom has completed the construction of the TEA Next trans-Eurasian fiber-optic line, stretching from Russia's western regions to the Far East. The infrastructure includes border connections with Mongolia and China, officially launching at the Digital Solutions-2026 forum.

The project, which began in 2020, features 96 dark fibers available for domestic and international operators. The line utilizes G.654 standard optical cables, ensuring a signal latency of no more than 65 ms on the Moscow-Kyakhta route and a minimum service life of 25 years.

Depending on the DWDM technology applied, the network's throughput capacity can reach 384 Tbps, 768 Tbps, or exceed 1 Pbps. Rostelecom intends for this infrastructure to support the growth of domestic internet traffic, cloud services, and AI systems.

The construction relied on Russian-made components. Domestic telecom operators have already begun leasing the dark fibers, while companies from China, Mongolia, and CIS countries have expressed interest in utilizing the new transit route.
