Rolls-Royce has initiated global road testing for its upcoming two-seat electric vehicle, Project Nightingale. The coachbuilt model is designed for a limited group of approximately 100 clients, with reports suggesting a starting price of $4 million. Deliveries are scheduled to commence in 2028.

The testing program spans diverse environments, including the Arctic Circle, the Arabian Peninsula, and Mediterranean coastal roads. Prototypes are being evaluated at altitudes reaching 9,020 feet and are subjected to high-speed trials at private facilities, where they reach speeds of up to 155 mph.

Engineers have dedicated 350 collective weeks to the testing phase. Static evaluations included over 1,430 hours of aerodynamic wind-tunnel work. The vehicle features a unique sideways-opening Piano Boot, which will undergo 15,000 opening and closing cycles to ensure long-term durability.

The convertible roof system is also undergoing rigorous assessment, including 10 separate tests covering fabric integrity and performance at temperatures up to 176 degrees Fahrenheit. Additionally, the company developed a bespoke electric wind deflector, which is being tested across various speed ranges.
