XDOF, a startup specializing in teleoperation data for robotics, is in late-stage negotiations for a Series B funding round. The deal, led by 8VC, could value the company at approximately $1.2 billion.

Founded in 2024 by UC Berkeley researchers Philipp Wu and Fred Shentu, the company previously secured $70 million in a Series A round in June. Current annualized revenue for the startup is approaching $50 million.

The firm focuses on building data pipelines and annotation systems for robotics companies. It utilizes the GELLO teleoperation system to capture training data, which involves human operators performing tasks like folding clothes.

XDOF is collaborating with the UC Berkeley AI Research lab to release a large-scale robot training dataset named ABC. The company currently serves 20 customers, including various frontier AI laboratories.

The startup plans to scale its operations by hiring and training global teams of data collectors. These teams will include remote teleoperators and individuals using body sensors to record movement data.
