The number of wallets holding Robinhood stock tokens grew from 1.33 million to 3.51 million between mid-August and mid-September 2026, marking a 164% increase. This growth resulted in approximately 2.2 million new holders in 30 days. The total notional value of these assets is estimated at $470 million, with an average position of $134 per holder.
Despite the surge in holders, monthly transfer volumes dropped by 57.34% to $12.85 billion. This divergence suggests that users are adopting a buy-and-hold strategy rather than active day trading. The Robinhood Chain mainnet, which launched on July 1, 2026, currently supports over 190 tokenized instruments, including US equities and ETFs.
The tokens are ERC-20 compliant and available in more than 120 countries, excluding the United States. While CEO Vlad Tenev is seeking regulatory approval for the US market, the SEC has not provided a timeline for authorization. Currently, these tokens do not grant legal ownership, voting rights, or direct dividend claims to holders.
The assets are backed 1:1 by custodied equities held in traditional brokerage accounts. Although Robinhood plans to introduce redemption features and voting rights in the future, institutional investors remain largely absent from the platform. The current market dynamic indicates a shift toward long-term holding, which may impact secondary market liquidity.
