Rivian has launched an early access program for its new point-to-point driver assistance system. The feature is currently available to a select group of vehicle owners who subscribe to the Autonomy+ service.

The system is built on the Universal Hands-Free platform. It allows vehicles to perform lane changes, turns, and highway merges automatically. Despite these capabilities, the technology is classified as Level 2 autonomy.

Drivers must remain attentive and ready to take control of the vehicle at any time. The company plans to release the first public test version by the end of the year and intends to expand coverage by 2027.

The program is open to owners of second-generation R1 and R2 models. Participation requires an active subscription to the company’s paid Autonomy+ package.
