Riot Platforms has fully repaid a $200 million loan to Coinbase, successfully reclaiming 5,821 Bitcoin that served as collateral. According to the company's 8-K filing, the debt and interest were settled on September 21, seven months ahead of the original April 2027 maturity date. No early repayment fees were applied to the transaction.

The released assets are valued at approximately $494 million based on a Bitcoin price of $84,800. Prior to this settlement, Riot held 11,380 Bitcoin as of June 30. The company previously adjusted its collateral requirements throughout the year, adding 1,825 coins in February due to market price fluctuations, while maintaining a fixed interest rate of 6.15% on the loan.

Riot is currently diversifying its operations by expanding into artificial intelligence data centers. In August, the company signed a 20-year lease agreement valued at $9.1 billion for 191 megawatts of computing capacity at its Texas facility. Construction is supported by a $573 million interim loan provided by Morgan Stanley, alongside other credit arrangements.

The company has been actively reducing its Bitcoin reserves, selling 3,778 coins for $289.5 million in the first quarter while mining 1,473. Holdings further decreased from 15,680 to 11,380 coins during the second quarter. Market performance shows RIOT shares closed at $23 on Friday, reflecting an 82% increase in stock value year-to-date.
