Founders Anna Goldie and Azalia Mirhoseini introduced their startup, Ricursive Intelligence, at TechCrunch Disrupt. The company develops AI systems capable of designing computer chips, aiming to automate and accelerate the design process.

The founders project that demand for compute will increase by at least 10,000 times over the next five years. They argue that creating more efficient chips is necessary to address this demand without relying solely on expanding data center infrastructure.

Ricursive Intelligence utilizes AI to optimize entire chips rather than partitioning them into smaller blocks. This method allows for unconventional layouts, such as circular or wave-like patterns, which can outperform traditional designs.

The startup aims to reduce chip design timelines from years to approximately one week. This acceleration could enable the creation of custom chips for diverse applications, including space technology, augmented reality, virtual reality, and biological computing.
