Replit CEO Amjad Masad announced that the company has shifted its primary partnership from Anthropic to OpenAI. Masad stated that OpenAI's ChatGPT is now the default model for the Replit Agent, citing superior performance, cost efficiency, and partnership strength as key factors for the transition.
While OpenAI is now the preferred partner, Replit remains model-agnostic. Customers retain the ability to access Anthropic's Claude models on the platform, though the switch to a new default is expected to reduce Replit's overall spending with Anthropic.
Replit previously relied on Anthropic's Claude models, and the company was recently ranked among Anthropic's top five customers. Despite the CEO's comments, some insiders claim the partnership remains active, and the platform continued to promote Anthropic models as recently as September.
Regarding financial performance, Replit reported that enterprise contracts now account for 15% of its total revenue, up from 2% last year. Overall, B2B business currently represents more than 50% of the company's revenue.
Looking ahead, Masad expects that enterprise and government clients will contribute more than 50% of Replit's total revenue by 2027. The company is focusing on providing a secure environment for AI agents to operate within its cloud-based development platform.
