Replit has ended its partnership with AI lab Anthropic, according to CEO and co-founder Amjad Masad. The announcement was made during the TechCrunch Disrupt event on October 16, 2026. Masad cited performance, cost, and partnership dynamics as the primary reasons for the shift in strategy.

The company has transitioned to a partnership with OpenAI, which was initially announced in August. Masad stated that internal and public benchmarks indicate that OpenAI models, specifically Sol and Astra, currently outperform Anthropic's offerings for building applications from scratch. Despite this, some industry insiders have suggested the collaboration with Anthropic may still be active.

Evidence from September shows that Replit was still utilizing Anthropic's Claude Fable 5 and Claude Fable 5.1 models within its Replit Agent production environment. The company is currently awaiting further clarification regarding the status of the agreement.

Replit is also reporting shifts in its revenue structure. Enterprise contracts now account for 15% of the company's total revenue, compared to 2% in the previous year. Additionally, B2B services currently represent more than 50% of the platform's total revenue stream.
