Reddit announced the discontinuation of RSS feed support, effective November 13, 2026. The platform stated that this measure is intended to combat automated data scraping and misuse of content by AI bots.
The company reported that its 'other' revenue sources, excluding advertising, reached $43 million in the second quarter, marking a 24 percent increase compared to the previous year. Reddit aims to monetize data access that was previously available for free via RSS.
Public API access will be terminated in March 2027. Developers of AI assistants will be required to purchase licenses to access platform data after this date. Additionally, access to 'Old Reddit' will be restricted to users who have been authorized on the platform for the past six months.
Developers utilizing Reddit data through APIs must complete official registration by January 12, 2027, to maintain access. Moderators are encouraged to migrate to the Discord Relay Devvit application to manage information flows.
