Layer-1 blockchain Qubic has resumed operations following a network halt caused by a security breach. The incident involved a vulnerability in the web wallet's seed generation process, which allowed unauthorized access to 1,404 user accounts. Attackers managed to drain approximately $1.4 million worth of QU tokens.

The network validators, referred to as Computors, officially approved a recovery plan to address the theft. As part of this initiative, the project launched a dedicated platform where affected users can submit claims. The deadline for submitting these claims is set for May 1, 2027.

The blockchain resumed processing ticks on October 19 at 8:00 pm, continuing from tick 85,371,949. The vulnerability stemmed from an insecure random-number generator in the web wallet software, specifically affecting certain Apple devices and browsers. Qubic has since released version 4.26.4 to resolve the flaw.

The development team advises all users who created wallets prior to version 4.26.4 to consider their assets insecure. Users are instructed to update their software, generate new wallets, and transfer all funds immediately. The project emphasizes that old wallets should no longer be used.
