Quantum Systems, a German drone manufacturer, announced that its experimental Apex Recordhunter drone reached a speed of 777 km/h. This result was shared by the company's Chief Revenue Officer, Martin Karkour, on October 20.
The Apex Recordhunter was developed by the N3XT team at Quantum Systems over a period of approximately one year. The drone serves as a technical platform for testing high-speed electric propulsion, energy management, aerodynamics, and flight control systems.
The aircraft features a lightweight composite structure and utilizes high-discharge batteries provided by V4Smart, a subsidiary of Porsche. These components are designed to handle the high power output required for high-speed flight.
The recorded speed of 777 km/h is currently considered unofficial. According to the International Aeronautical Federation (FAI) standards, a record requires flights in two opposite directions to account for wind conditions, whereas this test was a single-leg flight.
This achievement marks an improvement over the drone's previous performance. On June 26, 2026, the Apex Recordhunter reached 699 km/h during a level flight test, which was then cited as an unofficial world-best for battery-powered aircraft.
