Qualcomm is acquiring PickNik Robotics, a company known for its MoveIt Pro software platform. This integration aims to combine Qualcomm’s hardware ecosystem with PickNik’s expertise in motion planning and robotic arm applications to support edge AI development.
The acquisition follows a series of strategic moves by Qualcomm, including the purchase of Arduino in October 2025 and an agreement to acquire Modular for nearly $4 billion in June 2026. These steps are part of a broader effort to strengthen the company's position in the robotics market.
In January 2026, Qualcomm introduced the Dragonwing IQ10 processor series, tailored for humanoid and autonomous mobile robots. By pairing this hardware with PickNik’s software, which handles complex motion intelligence, the company intends to provide a complete stack for robotics manufacturers.
PickNik Robotics, founded in 2015, shifted its focus to product development around 2021. Its latest software, MoveIt Pro 9, was released in April 2026. The company has also collaborated with NASA on ISAM missions involving robotic operations in orbit.
