Recent developments in PlayStation 5 emulation have led to significant performance gains on PC. The KyTy emulator now runs the Demon's Souls remake at 30 FPS, a notable increase from the 1 FPS recorded just a week prior. Additionally, the emulator has achieved 40 FPS while running Grand Theft Auto V.
Developer Devran Cosmo Uenal has ported the KyTy emulator to the Xbox Series X developer mode, creating an experimental project called PS5X. This software allows the console to execute PS5 homebrew applications and game backups. The project is currently in an early stage of development.
The PS5X emulator currently supports several titles, including the Gex Trilogy, Hellboy: Web of Wyrd, Marvel's Spider-Man, and Quake II. The developer demonstrated gameplay for Quake II, confirming that the emulator supports both audio output and controller input for compatible games.
While compatibility remains limited due to the early nature of the project, the developer notes that significant work is ongoing. Meanwhile, other emulators like SharpEmu have also shown progress, recently booting Ghost of Yotei. These advancements suggest potential for broader PS5 game support on Xbox hardware.
