Amir Taaki, a former Bitcoin Core contributor and developer of the DarkFi privacy protocol, reported being deported from Singapore. According to Taaki, he underwent six hours of questioning by local police regarding his professional activities before being removed from the country.

The developer stated that he has faced similar actions in other nations over the past year, including deportations from Argentina and Mexico, as well as detentions in Serbia and Japan. Taaki noted that authorities typically describe these incidents as random checks and do not provide specific reasons for the detentions.

Taaki, a prominent figure in the cypherpunk community, previously contributed to the development of CoinJoin, stealth addresses, and libbitcoin. He also founded the first Bitcoin exchange in the United Kingdom and authored BIP 0001, which established the Bitcoin Improvement Proposal process.

The programmer's history with authorities dates back to 2016, following his involvement with the Kurdish People’s Protection Units in Syria. Taaki claims he is currently on an undisclosed list, though he has been unable to identify which country or entity has sanctioned him.
