Pratt & Whitney, a subsidiary of RTX, has commenced construction of a new manufacturing facility in Rzeszow, Poland. The project represents an investment of $100 million and is dedicated to producing critical components for the F135 engine, which powers the F-35 Lightning II fighter jet and delivers over 40,000 pounds of thrust.
The new plant is scheduled to become operational in 2028. It will specialize in manufacturing rotating components for the GTF, F135, and F100 engine families. The existing site in Rzeszow already produces engines for helicopters, business jets, and light aircraft, including the PT6, PW200, PW500/600, and PW800 series.
This initiative is part of a broader expansion strategy by RTX. In February, the company announced a separate $200 million investment to install a seventh isothermal forging press at its Columbus Forge facility in Georgia. Both projects aim to increase the production of critical parts, such as compressor and turbine disks, by 30 percent by 2028.
For RTX, the Polish site serves as its largest investment and workforce hub outside of the United States.
