Postgres Professional has released Postgres Pro AXE 2.0, an analytical database management system designed for corporate data storage and Lakehouse architectures. The update aims to integrate analytical workloads directly into existing PostgreSQL infrastructure.

The new version allows IT teams to interact with analytical tables via standard SQL interfaces, treating them similarly to conventional relational database tables. This approach simplifies management for both operational and analytical data environments.

The updated metadata catalog improves query processing and scalability by retrieving file information without opening individual files. Furthermore, access control for analytical data now follows standard PostgreSQL principles, ensuring consistent security management.

Analytical data in this version is stored in Parquet format, while metadata resides in SQL tables. The catalog supports the DuckLake open specification, enabling BI tools and external systems to connect directly using standard PostgreSQL connectors.
