Polymarket has appointed Jacob Horne, former co-founder of Zora, to lead the development of its onchain trading product. Horne, who spent over six years at Zora, will report directly to CEO Shayne Coplan. The company aims to revitalize its decentralized finance offerings, which Coplan noted had lost focus during the firm's recent growth phase.

The hiring follows a series of executive appointments at Polymarket. On September 10, the company named Warren Jenson, formerly of Amazon, EA, and Delta, as its first chief financial officer. Additionally, Collin McKinney Hill, a former general manager at DoorDash, joined the team on September 15 as vice president of operations.

Polymarket currently operates two distinct platforms: a DeFi-based venue for international users on the Polygon blockchain and a regulated exchange for US customers. The company faces stiff competition from Kalshi, which provides prediction market services for Coinbase. Recent data shows Kalshi processed $13,1 billion of the total $15,8 billion traded across both platforms in the week ending September 13.
