The startup Phaze, founded by the creators of Parsec, has secured $8.75 million in funding. The company, based in Utah, offers a platform that provides remote access to high-performance workstations for both human employees and autonomous AI agents.

The Phaze model allows businesses to manage a shared pool of computing resources instead of purchasing individual workstations for every employee. The system integrates AI agents using the experimental MCP protocol, which serves as an open standard for connecting AI with external software.

A demonstration showed an AI bot in Slack handling technical support requests, accessing user systems, and escalating complex issues to human staff. Access rights for these agents are strictly tied to the permissions of the account owner.

The infrastructure market for autonomous software is expanding. Industry examples include Baseten's acquisition of Blaxel and Perplexity's use of Mac mini devices as nodes for AI agents, which contributed to increased demand for such hardware earlier this year.
