Wormhole Labs has integrated the PEAQ token into the Solana ecosystem via its Sunrise asset gateway. This move grants the token canonical status, ensuring it functions as the official asset representation on Solana rather than a wrapped version. The integration allows PEAQ to be used directly within platforms like Phantom and Jupiter.

This development coincides with the launch of the peaq Economics 2.0 model on September 7, 2026. Under this system, 3,3 million machines are now required to bond PEAQ tokens as collateral to operate on the network. The project aims to reach 1 million machine activations within the first week of the new model's deployment.

The updated economic framework shifts from flat activation fees to a collateral-based system. While activation costs are denominated in USD, settlements occur in PEAQ tokens. Furthermore, the network now implements a burn mechanism where half of the bonded tokens are permanently removed from circulation when a machine exits the network.

Peaq currently supports over 60 DePIN projects, ranging from energy meters to mobility hardware. Since the mainnet launch in November 2024, the ecosystem has grown to include 3,3 million connected devices. This new model introduces operational necessity as a primary driver for token demand, alongside existing factors like staking and transaction fees.
