OpenAI unveiled several updates for its Codex platform and API at the DevDay 2026 conference in San Francisco. The company introduced reusable cloud development environments, a revamped command-line interface with voice control, and a dedicated code review view for the ChatGPT desktop application. These tools allow developers to manage tasks across multiple projects and integrate with platforms like GitHub and GitLab.

The new Codex Security Cloud provides automated repository scanning for security vulnerabilities, operating on a scheduled or on-demand basis. This service now includes access to Daybreak Blue models for malware analysis. Additionally, the Agents API has been expanded with Computer Use capabilities, allowing agents to interact with software independently, alongside new features like Tool Search and Context Compaction.

OpenAI is launching a Decisions API in limited preview, utilizing the GPT-6 Luna model for classification and request routing. This system is designed to handle predefined answer sets based on provided text or image context. The company also announced a new premium tier called Ultrafast, which increases token generation speeds by up to eight times in Codex and six times in the API.

The Ultrafast tier carries a premium price, set at six times the standard API rate. For the GPT-6 Astra model, this results in costs of $60 per million input tokens and $300 per million output tokens. Meanwhile, the GPT-6.1 Sol model maintains its pricing at $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens, with an Ultrafast version expected to launch shortly.
