OpenAI is currently seeking new capital, with reports suggesting a target of at least $30 billion. This potential funding round aims to value the company at approximately $1.4 trillion before the new investment is added.

This initiative follows a significant financing round completed on March 31, 2026, which raised $122 billion and resulted in a post-money valuation of $852 billion. That round exceeded the initial target of $110 billion.

Key participants in the March round included Amazon, Nvidia, and SoftBank. Amazon committed $50 billion, though $35 billion of that amount depends on specific milestones, such as an IPO or the achievement of artificial general intelligence.

Individual investors also participated in the previous round, contributing over $3 billion through banking channels. Meanwhile, CEO Sam Altman has indicated that IPO plans are deferred until at least 2027, citing a focus on AI safety.

OpenAI currently generates approximately $2 billion in monthly revenue. The company maintains an aggressive spending strategy on talent and technology to maintain its competitive position in the market.
