OpenAI is currently in the early stages of discussions for a new funding round, aiming to raise $30 billion. According to reports, this capital injection could bring the company's total valuation to $1.4 trillion.

The proposed valuation represents a 64% increase compared to the $852 billion valuation recorded in March. During that previous round, the company secured $122 billion from investors.

The company has postponed its planned public market debut until at least 2027. CEO Sam Altman stated that an IPO in 2026 would be ill-advised, as the firm prioritizes AI safety initiatives.

OpenAI submitted confidential paperwork for an initial public offering to the US Securities and Exchange Commission in June. Meanwhile, competitor Anthropic is reportedly planning an IPO this year with a potential valuation exceeding $2 trillion.
