OpenAI reported an annualized revenue rate of approximately $50 billion as of late September. The company aims to secure at least $30 billion in new funding, targeting a pre-money valuation of $1.4 trillion. This follows a previous round in March that reached a post-money valuation of $852 billion.

The company projects its annualized revenue will reach at least $70 billion by the end of 2026. Financial performance in the third quarter showed a 77 percent increase in overall annualized revenue, while enterprise-specific revenue grew by 107 percent. These gains are largely attributed to the expansion of enterprise services.

OpenAI currently reports over 1.2 billion weekly active users for ChatGPT and more than 35 million weekly users for ChatGPT Work and the Codex assistant. Additionally, the company serves 2.5 million business customers. OpenAI has reportedly postponed its potential public offering until next year.

Accounting differences regarding partner sales impact revenue reporting, as OpenAI records only its own share of revenue for certain deals. This approach differs from competitors like Anthropic, which records full customer payments. Both methods remain compliant with US GAAP standards.
