OpenAI has disclosed its annualized revenue for September, which stands at $50 billion. This figure is significantly lower than the $70 billion previously estimated by various sources.

The discrepancy stems from different calculation methodologies. Unlike competitors such as Anthropic, OpenAI excludes revenue generated through cloud partners like Amazon AWS and Google Cloud from its annualized revenue figures.

Updated data shows that the company's annualized revenue was approximately $30 billion in July. Consequently, the reported 70 percent growth through September reflects a lower starting base than previously assumed.

Despite revenue growth, OpenAI remains unprofitable. The company projects its total spending will exceed earnings by nearly $280 billion by 2030, with an annual revenue target of $350 billion by the end of the decade.

OpenAI filed for an IPO in June but has decided to delay the process. The company intends to remain private while it adapts to new AI safety requirements.
