OpenAI has appointed Brian McCarthy as the new Vice President of Worldwide Sales. McCarthy, previously a senior commercial leader at SpaceX, will focus on expanding the company's corporate customer base and driving international growth. This is the first major leadership hire made by Dali Rajic, who joined OpenAI as Chief Revenue Officer in mid-August from the cybersecurity firm Wiz.
The company is currently valued at approximately $852 billion and is preparing for a public listing. OpenAI filed confidentially for an IPO earlier in 2026, aiming for a valuation that exceeds $1 trillion. These moves align with the company's goal to generate half of its total revenue from enterprise customers by the end of 2026.
OpenAI currently reports over 2 million business customers, a figure that has doubled year-over-year. The company is shifting its focus from consumer products like ChatGPT toward securing large-scale contracts with Fortune 500 organizations. This transition is part of a broader structural change as the firm moves from a nonprofit model to a capped for-profit entity.
