OpenAI reported that its mobile application reached over 1 billion monthly active users, a milestone confirmed by Sensor Tower. This growth marks a significant increase from the 40 million users recorded three years ago. Additionally, the app reached 900 million weekly active users by February 2026.
The company's annualized recurring revenue has seen rapid expansion, rising from $2 billion in 2023 to $20 billion in 2025. By August 2026, the revenue run rate reached $40 billion. CFO Sarah Friar noted that enterprise revenue has now surpassed consumer subscription income.
Enterprise revenue growth reached 32% month-over-month in July 2026. OpenAI currently provides consumer subscriptions, team and enterprise plans, and API access. Meanwhile, competitor Anthropic reported that its Claude model grew by approximately 640% year-over-year in Q2 2026, reaching 56 million monthly active users.
