OpenAI has released a comprehensive dataset detailing user behavior for ChatGPT across 100 countries, covering the period from July 2024 to June 2026. The analysis, part of the OpenAI Signals update, highlights a significant shift toward professional use cases, with task completion and creation rates in work contexts exceeding personal usage by more than two times.

The data indicates a demographic shift, with an increase in messages from users aged 35 and older in nearly every tracked country. Notably, France and Czechia reported a rise of over 10 percentage points in this age segment. Meanwhile, users in Latin America, Africa, and Oceania are rapidly increasing their adoption rates to match earlier markets.

Multimedia interactions, including image generation, now account for 7.8% of global messages. Certain markets show higher engagement with these features, with Brazil and Colombia exceeding 10%. The report also notes the July 2026 launch of ChatGPT Work, which aligns with the observed trend toward increased productivity-focused functionality.

The full dataset is now publicly available for researchers and policymakers. While the study covers 100 countries in detail, the underlying survey data extends to 147 nations. OpenAI emphasizes that the findings reflect behavior specifically within its own product ecosystem rather than the broader AI market.
